A Beginner's Guide to Bouldering

Before you start, make sure there's enough space on the wall for you climb safely.

Look for two strips of tape to find where a "problem" begins.

Climbers use a lot of lingo! A problem is what climbers call a single bouldering route

Stick to just one color of hold when climbing.

This is a "slab" problem, meaning that the wall is slighly less than 90°

Slab problems are generally characterized by balance-dependent moves on slippery holds

There are also "overhang" problems, meaning that the wall has a slope of more than 90°

Overhang problems generally require more strength and body tension.

To finish a problem, place both hands on the last hold for three seconds.

You just "sent" your first problem! Now, make sure to tuck-and-roll when you fall onto the mats.
